WASHINGTON, Aug. 29, 2008 – The husband-and-wife team who designed the Pentagon Memorial spent a gray, misty afternoon with their creation yesterday, just two weeks before its public opening.
Julie Beckman and Keith Kaseman, the married duo who designed the Pentagon Memorial, visit their almost-completed creation Aug. 28, 2008. The architects’ design proposal was chosen from more than 1,100 submissions in March 2003. The memorial, Beckman said, will provide a “very special place on Earth” dedicated to the memory of the 184 people who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Pentagon.
