The $85 million project is the largest of its kind in al-Anbar Province and is 45 percent complete. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which is directing construction of the facility, projects that it will be sufficient for all of Fallujah’s wastewater treatment needs when the city integrates its own collection system. It is projected that the facility will be able to accommodate the city’s needs until the year 2025. "Water is a critical resource in Iraq," said Cmdr. Scott Rye, MNF-I spokesman.
