Multi-National Corps – Iraq Public Affairs Office, Camp Victory APO AE 09342 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE RELEASE No. 20071213-11 December 13, 2007 Iraqi security volunteers turn over weapons cache to MND-B troops Multi-National Division – Baghdad CAMP TAJI, Iraq – Iraqi Security Volunteers working in the Albu Obaed area west of Baghdad turned over a large weapons cache to Multi-National Division-Baghdad troops Dec. 9. While patrolling the Albu Obaed streets, the volunteers received a tip from a local resident about a nearby cache site. After receiving the location, the volunteers verified the information by traveling to the area to examine the find. The volunteers then notified Soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st “Ironhorse” Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division about the cache. Upon their arrival, the 2-5 Cav. Soldiers discovered 175 mortar rounds of various sizes, which were later turned over to ordnance disposal personnel. “This event shows that the Iraqi Security Volunteers have been doing a tremendous job in finding weapons and securing their neighborhoods,” said Maj. Randall Baucom, a spokesman for the 1st BCT, 1st Cav.
