Khor al-Zubair Tech Center rehabilitation completed

BASRAH, Iraq – Rehabilitation of a vocational technical center in southern Basrah Province was recently completed.

Basic infrastructure of the Khor al-Zubair vocational technical center in al-Zubair district was completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The $1.5 million project renovated two facilities comprising more than 24 workshops.

"The completed rehab project ... will promote vocational education for all Iraqis," said James Hodges, the chief construction representative with the Basrah Area Office, Gulf Region South district.

"Providing better educational opportunities will lead to better job opportunities," noted Lt. Col. Maura Gillen, MNF-I spokeswoman. "Vocational training is an investment in the economy; an investment in the development of a secure and prosperous Iraq."
