MND-B Soldiers find two caches in Doura

BAGHDAD – Multi-National Division – Baghdad troops found two weapons caches and detained three suspected extremists during ongoing security operations in the Rashid District of the Iraqi capital Jan. 16.

Following a tip from a local citizen, Soldiers of Company B, 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, attached to Task Force Dragon, raided a home in Doura where they found a pistol, a video camera, and two cell phones believed to be used as bomb-making materials. The troops arrested three men at the home on suspicion of extremist ties.

The men were taken to a Coalition Forces detention facility for further questioning.

Additionally, Soldiers of Co. A, 2nd Bn., 4th Inf. Regt., found a weapons cache consisting of six improvised grenades, a UGO grenade, a 57mm projectile, three 57mm rockets, seven rocket-propelled grenades and an 86mm anti-tank mine.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel destroyed the munitions on site.
