Militia rounds fall in Baghdad civilian communities
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD — Three residential areas were directly affected by five militia indirect fire attacks, as mortar and rocket rounds continued to fall into Baghdad neighborhoods July 17-18.

The al-Muthana Zayuna area in the Rusafa District was hit by a single mortar, which impacted on a road near the Karadah Joint Security Station, wounding an Iraqi Police officer. This was the first attack this week in this section of the Rusafa District.

Eastern Baghdad continued to see attacks as the al-Amin area of the New Baghdad District received seven rounds in two consecutive attacks July 18. One building was damaged in these attacks.

The East Rashid District’s al-Zubaida neighborhood, in southern Baghdad, came under attack for the second straight day as two separate attacks targeted the area in the early morning hours July 18.  A single mortar round impacted in a residential neighborhood, as a second round landed in an open field. There were no available reports of injuries or damage from these attacks.
