Multi-National Division – Center PAO

CAMP STRIKER, Iraq – Members of the Sons of Iraq, turned over small weapons caches to Iraqi Army soldiers during a coordinated medical engagement in Abu Osage, about 30 kilometers southwest of Baghdad, May 8.

More than 165 Iraqis received care from medics with the 25th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division and the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Once the medical operation began, they were informed that the SoI had found two small caches in the area.

The caches contained artillery rounds, a Russian 73 mm projectile, more than 100 mortar primers and a surface-to-air rocket launcher.

“The SoI and IA are out everyday ensuring the Iraqi people, through their service and outreach, they are here to support them,” said COl. Bill Buckner, Multi-National Corps-Iraq spokesman. “It’s people like them that will ensure the future successes of Iraq.”
