Soldiers respond to truck-bomb attack
KALSU, Iraq — Coalition Forces responded to a truck-borne improvised explosive device attack in the Chaka 5 region Sept. 1.
As the vehicle attempted to enter the patrol base, Paratroopers from Company C, 3rd Battalion, 509th Airborne, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, engaged the vehicle with heavy machine gun fire detonating the bomb.
The Coalition patrol base received enemy mortar and small arms fire immediately prior to the truck-borne improvised explosive device attempted to enter.
One Paratrooper sustained minor injuries during the attack.
Paratroopers from Co. C use the patrol base as a staging point for vehicle and foot patrols in the Chaka 5 region.
