BAGHDAD - Multinational Division - Central South Polish Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) group handed over an electricity-line project to villagers in Al Quadisiyah province that provides electricity for the Hwaeer village of about 600 Iraqis.

 

"We are very happy of this project because we will have electricity. We would like to thank to soldiers from Polish CIMIC group." said a villager.

 

This project consists of 295 electricity poles, a transformer and wires.

 

The entire length of this line is 29 km.  During the construction of this project, contractors employed 30 locals.  The cost of this project is estimated of $210,000 USD.

 

"This electricity line consists of 3 parts and in the future it will be extended to other villages." said Lt. Sebastian Sarna, a CIMIC officer responsible for this project. Projects concerning electricity are a large part of the job of the Polish CIMIC group.

 

Since January 2007 they have handed over 10 such projects, and the next 16 projects are ongoing.

 

"For the most of Iraqi villages, electricity is a luxury. Unfortunately, for part of them electricity is still a dream. That is the reason that 31 percent of our projects are related to electricity." said Lt. Col. Andrzej Dylong, the commander of CIMIC group.
